Risi Competizione’s car #82 took 1st place in the GT2 class at the famous 24 Hour At Le Mans with Endless brake pads at the heart of its brake package. The long and arduous race was an exciting and eventful one, with periods of perilous fog and even rain. Nevertheless, Risi Competizione’s car #82 maintained the lead throughout and finished the race strong to clench the victory.
Endless and Risi Competizione had been doing testing and development of the sintered compound called YS455 here in the US before the team headed to France for Le Mans. “The YS455 is a sintered compound developed for long endurance races and is used for specific Super Taikyu circuits with our own cars,” said Dominic Chen, Executive Director of Endless USA.
Rick Mayer, race engineer for Risi Competizione, had great things to report about the Endless pad. Initial testing at a race in Utah prior to Le Mans went well and Rick decided to do a final test at Le Mans one week before the race. Despite a logistical error preventing them from performing the test, Rick made the decision to run the Endless pads in the race. “The drivers really liked the pads,” Rick said. He added that the team would be interested in continuing development of pads for not only the 24 Hours At Le Mans, but also for the sprint races on the regular American Le Mans calendar.
“We’re thrilled to be working with the defending GT2 champions,” Dominic said. “Our goal is to find Risi Competizione the right setup that will last them entire 24 Hours
without a pad change. We’re very close. Furthermore, I believe we’ve reached the point where people will start to see more and more of Endless in the US motor sports arena.”
