Hankook driver Lee Niffenegger captured the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Showroom Stock B (SSB) Division Championship with first place wins at the Autobahn Raceway and the Nelson Ledges Road Course.  These two races give Niffenegger six straight victories in the national competition and clinched the 2007 season SCCA CENDIV SSB points title.

At the first SCCA National race at Autobahn Raceway in Joliet, IL on July 15, Niffenegger edged past another Central Division SSB leader, Jack Tippens, with a new track record of 1:43.488.  The two drivers have been very close in previous races throughout the season, but Niffenegger’s Honda Civic Si equipped with Hankook tires continually came out on top of the battles.

Following the Autobahn race, Niffenegger broke another SSB track record with a 1:18.300 finishing time at the Great Lakes Division race at Nelson Ledges Road Course in Garrettsville, OH.  Niffenegger led the July 29 race flag-to-flag for his sixth victory of the season.  With a perfect 72 points in the season, Niffenegger secured the 2007 Central Division SSB points title as well as the second leg of the SCCA Triple Crown.

“This has been a great year and I couldn’t have done it without Hankook,” said Niffenegger.  “The many poles, wins, and track records should make everyone take notice of the performance of these tires.”

Next up for Lee is the SCCA National Championship Runoffs at Heartland Park Topeka (Kansas).  The weeklong event will kick off with testing and qualifying on October 7.  The SSB race is scheduled for 4:15pm on Saturday, October 12.  The race will be televised on SPEED TV at a date to be announced.  Lee is coming off a strong 4th place finish at last year’s event and is looking to improve upon that this year.
