The second annual NASA National Championships at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course gathered together the top drivers from all over the country, each vying for the title of NASA Nationals Champion in their respective classes. Competitors using Hankook Ventus racing tires scored an impressive six championship titles and 12 total podium finishes.

Hankook offered up to $130,000 in cash and tire certificates for racers competing on their high performance Ventus DOT Competition tires. The top driver in each class earned $1,000 for winning their division. Hankook Tires also provided free trackside support for many of the drivers using the racing tires.

“We wanted to give something back and show our appreciation to the racers that bought our tires throughout the year. Anyone can give away contingency, so we wanted to go above and beyond by truly supporting the racers at the track,” said Jeff Koehler, Hankook Tire Motorsports Marketing Manager.

Many of the drivers at the event had some remarkable race stories. For example, Larry Collins’ race car was destroyed in a collision at the same course weeks prior to the event. This time he rented another similar car and competed in not one, but two classes.

“I’m proud to be a part of the Hankook Team and did not want to miss this event,” said a jubilant Collins after finishing second in the GTS1 Championship Race. Randy Mueller took the top spot in the highly competitive GTS3 Class, while Greg Greenbaum was dominant in both Performance Touring C and Time Trial Class C.

“I’m very pleased with the performance of my Z214’s at this year’s NASA Championships.  My car was faster than last year, and I broke two class track records, and won two National Championships,” reported Greenbaum after the event.
