The Queen Mary, a British military ship that transported soldiers across the Atlantic ocean from 1940-1946 docked for good on December 9, 1967 in Long Beach, California. The mighty ship that is bigger than the Titanic made over 1,000 trips across the Atlantic during its short 6 years in commission carrying 15,000 troops at a time as well as transporting Winston Churchill three times to conferences. Currently the ship resides as a hotel and tourism attraction generating hundreds of thousands of guests to Long Beach each year.
On June 16, 2007 the grassy hill next to the ship was transformed into a concert and festival only Southern California could pull of. Featuring over 35 bands including Micky Avalon, Unwritten Law, Zebrahead, Dead Air Delay, and The Dear & Departed. Audiobahn was on hand with Dane Sloan’s amazing show winning Dodge Ram with a killer paint job and enough Audiobahn ice to sink the Titanic. Audiobahn had the only custom vehicle at the event and was specifically invited to be there by the shows promoters.
Show goers were treated to some amazing music from some of California’s best bands, with great weather all day, it made for another beautiful day in Southern California. Sloan’s Ram drew the crowd’s attention all day long and spectators were able to grab the newest Audiobahn catalog and lanyards from the booth. Sarah Scars from Hollywoodmusic.tv did a great interview with Audiobahn about the truck and the Audiobahn brand. Local band Killjoy Union was also on hand at the booth through out the day taking pictures with fans and signing autographs.
“It is always a great honor to be invited to events such as this, and an even bigger honor is to see the pride that people such as Dane Sloan take in their vehicles and in making every event they attend special.” Says Doug Parks Audiobahn’s Director of Marketing
