Actron(r) and Sunpro(r) awarded their beautifully restored 1969 Dodge Coronet R/T “Muscle Car Sweepstakes” grand prize to Bob Hayes during the 2009 Barrett-Jackson collector car event in Scottsdale, Ariz. Hayes, a self-proclaimed car guy, was destined to win the Dodge Coronet.  His first car was a 1970 yellow Chevrolet Camaro boasting a big block four speed and - what else - an original Sun Super Tach(r) on the dash.

“My son Lance and I are both car guys and we first saw the Coronet during the HOT ROD Magazine Power Tour(tm) in Springfield, Mo.,” said Hayes.  “We both thought it’d be nice to own so we signed up for it that day in June and crossed our fingers.  I am so excited to drive the car around and show it in local car shows.  I’m sure it’ll be in next year’s Christmas parade.”

The Dodge Coronet R/T, armed with a 440 Magnum V8, has received one cosmetic restoration during its 38-year life.  The muscle car features a 1971 3-speed A727 Torqueflite Automatic Transmission, a real Air Grabber Hood, power steering, power brakes, bumper guards, original 14” Magnum 500 wheels with new center caps and trim rings, a correct console shifter with a wood grain console top; and a new white vinyl top.

“As an iconic symbol of ‘60s and ‘70s muscle car era vehicles, Sunpro gauges and the original Sun Super Tach remains the world’s most recognizable tachometer,” said Joe Young, product manager, Sunpro.  “Actron and Sunpro are proud to give away the Dodge Coronet R/T to a true muscle car fan.”

Hayes, 50, and his wife Patti live in Lockwood, Mo., where he runs his own plumbing and heating business.  He also owns a Chevelle, while his son has a Chevelle and a Dodge Daytona Charger.

The Actron and Sunpro “Muscle Car Sweepstakes” ran from June 1, 2008 to November 30, 2008.  To be eligible, contestants had to complete an official entry form available at retail locations where Actron- and Sunpro-brand products are sold, at select shows and events or online at http://www.musclecarsweepstakes.com.

The Dodge Coronet R/T made an appearance at each stop of the 2008 HOT ROD Magazine Power Tour, which departed Little Rock for Springfield, Mo. (June 8); Topeka, Kan. (June 9); Lincoln, Neb. (June 10); Ames, Iowa (June 11); and Rochester, Minn. (June 12) before wrapping-up in Madison, Wis. (June 13, 14).  Sunpro - The Performance Legend(r) - was the official tach and gauge sponsor of the 2008 HOT ROD Power Tour.
