Eric Curran and his Whelen Engineering SCCA SPEED World Challenge GT team had marked round three at the Miller Motorsports Park track in Tooele, Utah, as the event to turn their season around. While that plan had been working to perfection in practice and qualifying, Curran would leave Utah with his sights set on round four to jumpstart his 2008 championship efforts. “I was very excited going in the Miller weekend,” Curran said. “I was back in my main Corvette--the one that was damaged at Sebring. The K&N High-Flow Intake System for the 2008 Dodge Challenger 6.1L V8, (part no. 63-1114), increases horsepower by 31.42 hp at 5217 rpm over the stock Dodge intake configuration. To achieve such a performance increase, K&N replaces the Challenger’s original intake assembly; including the air box, air filter and intake tube with an all-new intake design. The new system draws air through a K&N High-Flow Air Filter that increases airflow and filtering capacity, and never needs to be replaced. Protecting the chrome top cone-shaped air filter, and isolating it from engine heat, is a powder coated steel heat shield that replaces the Challenger’s stock air box. As it passes the filter, air travels through a K&N Roto-Molded Polyethylene Tube that is formed and shaped, in the design phase, to drive a more laminar flow of air to the Challenger’s 6.1L V8 engine.

The required crash test for homologation showed the innovative accessory to remain well below the limits set by the new EU guidelines for pedestrian protection. The accessory was awarded a general EG operating certificate, eliminating the need for individual technical inspections. For further optimized active safety the guard comes with mounts for auxiliary high-beam headlights.

The Avenger is a mid-sized car made by Dodge, which looks like a smaller Charger. The Avenger is also the mechanical twin of the Chrysler Sebring sedan. They share underpinnings and powertrains.

K&N Engineering has designed a lifetime replacement air filter (33-2373) for the Dodge Avenger and Chrysler Sebring. See complete list below. Handmade in the USA using only the finest materials, K&N Replacement Air Filters are washable and reusable. It’s almost impossible to wash your K&N Air Filter too much. Inside our testing laboratory, we have washed and re-oiled one K&N Air Filter more than 100 times and it still performs up to specifications. Depending on your driving conditions, we recommend cleaning your air filter every 50,000 miles.

K&N Air Filters were created for an environment requiring maximum horsepower, excellent filtration and enhanced acceleration. We take filtration seriously at K&N. The result is an air filter that allows more air into an engine and will protect your engine for the life of your vehicle.
