Mazda redesigned the Mazda3 for 2010. Changes are more than skin-deep for this sporty, yet economical, car. New to the Mazda3 is the 2.5L engine found in the 3s and hatchback models. The 2009 Mazda 6 is a four door sedan produced at the AutoAlliance International plant shared with Ford in Flat Rock, Michigan. The license plate is placed higher in the U.S. version, exhaust tips look sportier and the Mazda emblem shrinks slightly. Designed to increase horsepower and acceleration, K&N has released a replacement air filter (33-2424) for the 2009 Mazda 6 with a 2.5 liter engine, U.S.

Mazda announced several key enhancements to the MX-5 Cup series at their annual pre-season media gathering in Irvine today. Mazda is increasing the contingency payout for the 2009 MX-5 Cup series - the top three positions will receive an additional $500 per event in 2009.  First place in each race will now pay $5,000, second place is good for $3,500, and third place is now $2,500.  Prize money is paid to the top 20 finishers in each race.

The Avon Foundation, award-winning actor Patrick Dempsey and Dempsey Racing have announced the creation of the Dempsey Racing Challenge, a special new contest to drive fundraising for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. The announcement was made by Patrick Dempsey and Carol Kurzig, President of the Avon Foundation, at the Grand-Am Rolex 24 at Daytona in which Dempsey Racing is competing. Dempsey Racing is already committed to help raise awareness for the Avon Walk: the Dempsey Racing black and white No. 40 Mazda RX-8, driven by Dempsey and co-drivers Joe Foster, Charles Espenlaub, Tim Lewis and Jep Thornton, carries pink trim and the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer logo while the drivers and crew will also wear the logo on the race suits.

The fourth concept car in the Nagare design series, Mazda Taiki, further evolves the “flow” theme to establish a breathtaking presence that clearly defines its Nagare credentials, and visually expresses the atmosphere - called taiki in Japanese - that wraps the Earth in its protective mantle. Centering around the performance rotary engine sports packaging that is synonymous with the Mazda name, technologies introduced for the Mazda Taiki include the next-generation RENESIS (rotary engine 16X, refer to book separate volume for details), which sets new standards for environmental and driving performance, a front-engine rear-wheel-drive layout, unique 2-seat configuration, and others which convey an image of lightness.
