After years of learning the series and developing their own cars, the BimmerWorld SPEED World Challenge Touring Car team broke through at Mid-Ohio on Sunday to score their first win as an entrant, the first win for new driver Joey Hand, and the first professional win for the new BMW 3-series E90 chassis in North America.
After a weekend of so many firsts, team owner James Clay was beaming with pride after sharing sips of Hand’s champagne with his BimmerWorld crew in victory circle. “It’s awesome—it’s taken us a lot of time and a lot of hard work to get here. We knew it would be tough to develop these new cars and it’s nice that it’s finally paying off. It’s a start, but it’s just one win. (I hope) it’s the start of a trend.”
Joey Hand, new to the BimmerWorld team but by no means new to driving BMW’s or working with James Clay, was thankful for the opportunity to end a dry spell for race wins, and to exorcize the memories of a famous crash that saw him somersaulting last year at Mid-Ohio. The first thing he did after the race was to call his wife and tell her the good news, “Honey, I survived Mid-Ohio this year and actually won!”

SPEED Touring Car team takes the engineering lead; gets closer to bringing the new BMW 325i to victory circle.
Building, preparing, and running a racing car in a professional series is a never ending process of clawing and scratching for ways to improve that car. The rapid pace of development and improvement for teams within the SCCA SPEED World Challenge series is no different.
BimmerWorld Racing of Dublin, Virginia faces the unique challenge of not only having to keep pace with their factory-backed rivals in the SPEED Touring Car series, but are also challenged to lead the charge to extract and engineer the maximum performance from their unique new generation BMW 325i racers.

Spearco Intercoolers introduces a new large capacity, high flow, front mount intercooler upgrade for the BMW 335i (E90/92/93) coupe and sedan, increasing horsepower and torque.
Are you looking to increase the horsepower of your 335i to match the great factory torque delivery? Turbonetics and its high performance intercooler brand Spearco now offers bolt-on intercooler upgrades for the 2007-up 335i coupes and sedans. BMW owners can now enjoy the benefits of increased flow and more efficient air to help dramatically lower intake air temperatures to increase power. By using a massive 6” thick W.A.V.E. Technology core, the Spearco front mount intercooler dropped charge air temperatures on average of 125 degrees on the twin turbo vehicle. In addition to lower intake air temperatures, the pressure of air exiting the intercooler compared to the pressure entering the unit was only an amazing 0.20 psi drop. The stock unit has over one pound of pressure loss/drop due to the factory unit’s lack of efficiency and limited size. When the stock unit is upgraded to the Spearco you will have less heat and more power due to the ability to quickly and efficiently move the pressurized air through the intercooler assembly.

In a bid to demonstrate the strength and development of the BimmerWorld-built BMW E90’s racing in the SPEED World Challenge series, BimmerWorld owner and driver James Clay announced the addition of former BMW North America factory racer Joey Hand to his team for the final four races of the 2007 SPEED Touring Car season, starting with the next round held at the Mid-Ohio track, July 20-22.
Clay, opting to put Hand in the #37 BimmerWorld car while he sits out the round to concentrate on the completion of his new #36 BMW E90, is excited to show the drivers and teams in the series how competitive BimmerWorld’s Seth Thomas in the #38 and Hand in the #37 can be. “2007 has been a season of bad luck so far for us. If we are going to play the odds, then I have decided to run an additional car to increase our chances at finishing the season strongly. Joey is one of the best BMW drivers in the world; we worked well together when I was in charge of a BMW North America Diesel race car Joey drove, so he was a logical choice for the #37 car.”

The BMW X3 sport-activity vehicle comes with a new transmission for 2007. The company claims this accounts for a 6-percent gain in fuel economy and offsets the increase in power and curb weight. Another option in the BMW lineup is the Z4, a roadster with refined handling and well balanced driving on public roads.
K&N Engineering has developed a lifetime replacement air filter (33-2372) for the 2007 BMW X3 3.0-liter engine and the 2007 BMW Z4 3.0-liter engine. Simply remove the disposable air filter and replace it with K&N’s Air Filter for virtually unrestricted air flow. Each replacement air filter is custom designed to fit in the factory air box and requires no modifications.
The outside length of 33-2372 is 11.25 inches (286 mm), with a height of 1.25 inches (32 mm) and an outside width of 9 inches (229 mm). Designed to increase power and torque while providing excellent filtration, there is a great deal of engineering behind every K&N Filter.
