Two new SFI-approved machined flexplates offer bullet-proof strength and reliability for high performance GM LSA and LS9 engine applications. For the GM enthusiast who immediately starts cranking more torque and horsepower into his or her recently developed GM LSA or LS9 engine, engineers at TCI® have developed two new high performance machined flexplates. The factory flexplate behind an LSA or LS9 engine can often be problematic, even in stock applications, with issues of cracking and even breaking; so replacing it with a CNC-machined flexplate from TCI® is a good idea.

The Ford AOD transmission has proven itself as a reliable performer with factory and mildly upgraded performance applications. However, a few upgrades are necessary if you’re looking to move it into the high performance level.  To help drivers achieve those high performance numbers, the drivetrain experts at TCI® have introduced the 1980-’93 Ford AOD Ultimate Master Overhaul Kit.

Since the birth of the new 6x Six-Speed Automatic Transmission from TCI®, there has been a demand for new manual shifting alternatives, including other types of transmissions. With that in mind, engineers at TCI® recently developed a new line of Outlaw™ Shifters that feature an integrated two-button design to improve shifting and eliminate the hassle of running wires or spiral cords from the steering wheel or the need for a custom steering wheel for a paddle shifter.

When it comes to high horsepower and limited tire size in drag race applications where the more durable GM TH400 transmission is needed, tire spin has always been an issue. Turbocharged, supercharged and nitrous injected engines can simply product too much power for the standard GM TH400 2.48 1st/1.48 2nd gear ratios. To counter this problem, engineers at TCI® have developed a 6-pinion planetary set that improves take-off power and maximizes racing performance by decreasing the starting line gear ratio by 15 percent to 2.10 1st/1.40 2nd.

One of the most critical elements of any GM street/strip or towing application is acceleration. With that in mind, drivetrain engineers at TCI® recently designed two new 6-pinion planetary sets for 4L80E transmissions that provide powerful launches and improved gear transitions. Available in 2.75 1st/1.57 2nd or 2.97 1st/1.57 2nd gear ratios, these kits can release the true performance potential of your engine, whether at the strip or pulling a trailer, by increasing take-off power by 10 and 17 percent, respectively.

When it comes to GM LS performance, there are a host of big power adders for street/strip applications. But once some of these power-adding extras have been included, other OEM components tend to suffer. Too often, the factory starter can’t handle the power it takes to fire up a motor with higher compression or it simply won’t fit with aftermarket headers. That’s where the all-new TCI® LS-Series Permanent Magnet Starter comes into play.

In circle track racing, stresses and failures are common on OEM or “cheap” external engine components e.g., balancers. However, engineers at TCI® have recently designed a harmonic balancer for Small Block Chevy “Claimer” engines that is lighter in weight, thereby increasing engine life as well as performance. The TCI® Claimer Elastomer Balancer utilizes a pressure bonding assembly to ensure that its outer ring will not turn or move, which is a common cause of engine failure with factory and lesser quality aftermarket balancers.

TCI® Max Shift™ Transmission Fluid has proven to be an effective performer in several performance venues. A new version of this innovative drivetrain formula has now been released for dirt and asphalt circle track automatic racing transmissions. Max Shift™ Circle Track has been tested and proven to enhance drivetrain performance and durability, and it can operate at far greater temperatures than both petroleum-based transmission fluids and synthetic formulas.

Four-wheel drive vehicles tend to be tough on drivetrain components, especially the applications that are intended for more serious use.
