During the 1960s and ‘70s, the iconic Sun and Sun Super Tachs decorated the dash of hot rods and muscle cars around the country. Today, that legend lives on as performance parts manufacturer Sunpro(r) introduces their new line of Retro Tachometers featuring the nostalgic styling of the past enhanced by the modern electronics of today. “Sun Super Tachs are one of the most recognizable tachometers among automotive enthusiasts today,” said David Schaar, director of marketing services, SPX Service Solutions.  “Our new Sunpro Retro Tachometer line has been carefully reproduced to match the original Sun and Sun Super Tachs, and we are thrilled to launch an updated version of this classic performance part.”

The 3 3/8-inch Sunpro Speedometers are available in Sport ST (CP7210) and Super III (CP7215) versions.  Both products feature through-the-dial lighting, a 0-160 mph range, illuminated pointers and LCD displays.  The Electronic Programmable Speedometers are designed to be compatible with most OE and aftermarket vehicle speed sensors, and are installed in the dash for a professional look.

Sunpro(r), “The Performance Legend(r),” will hit the road as part of the 15th anniversary 2009 HOT ROD Magazine Power Tour presented by GM Performance Division when it kicks off June 6. The company will cruise the 2009 HOT ROD Power Tour to seven stops in seven days with the Sunpro booth in tow. “Sunpro has had a long relationship with the readers of HOT ROD magazine, as the original Sun Super Tach(r) was a famous fixture of the ‘60s hot rod era,” said Joe Young, Sunpro product manager.  “By being out on the road with our customers, we can learn more about their product needs while celebrating our motorsports heritage.”

Sunpro(r) is offering its Style Line(tm) 1 1/2” Mini Triple Gauge Kit (#CP8092) with white dial faces, allowing enthusiasts a new option for restoration and replacement projects. Perfect for vehicles with limited dash space, Sunpro’s Mini Triple Gauge Kit features a chrome Style Line mechanical oil pressure gauge, water/oil temperature gauge and voltmeter all conveniently housed within a removable chrome mounting panel for easy installation under a vehicle’s dashboard or in the center console.  It comes complete with the capillary tubing, NPT thread and adapters required for installation.
