KW suspensions announces their Hydraulic Lift System (HLS) Universal Application for Sports Cars equipped with coilovers. Enthusiasts are able to retrofit their existing KW coilovers kit or similar coilover kits with the HLS system. The HLS provides additional road clearance for lowered vehicles. A hydraulic cylinder unit is installed between the spring perch and the main spring. When expanded, a range of 30mm to 45mm of lift is produced, thereby helping sport cars avoid road clearance difficulties.

Geelong brothers Jason and Craig Domaschenz took out the Commodore Cup Endurance Challenge while the Formula 3 success was shared, in Round Five of the Shannons Nationals at Winton Motor Raceway. Six categories raced in the Shannons Nationals’ first ever visit to the Victorian circuit, which kicked off the second half of the 2009 season. The Domaschenz brothers won the Menzel Glass Commodore Cup Endurance Challenge and the Ashley Cooper Memorial Trophy.

Formula DRIFT has announced a schedule change for the 2009 season. Round 6: Locked and Loaded at Infineon Raceway will be re-scheduled from September 12 to August 21-22. Formula DRIFT has been added to the Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma race weekend. “Formula DRIFT continues to bring drifting to the big leagues with the addition of our event to the Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma,” said Jim Liaw, president and co-founder of Formula DRIFT. “Motorsports fans will be able to experience the 110+ mph average speeds of open wheel racing and all the sideways action of Formula DRIFT in one weekend.”

BMW Group-led consortium is a winner in Technology Strategy Board £25m Ultra Low Carbon Vehicle Demonstrator competition. The British government body that exists to promote business innovation in technology announced yesterday that a consortium led by BMW Group will be supported by a proportion of a £25m fund, enabling the MINI E to be introduced and tested on British roads by a mixture of private, corporate and public sector drivers before the end of 2009.
